It all begins with an idea, a story I’d like to tell. So I grab my bass and start to invent a musical version of “once upon a time…” Listening as much as I play, I let the notes guide me towards a one, two, or three act structure. Eventually, a song emerges, and when it speaks, I’m as surprised as anyone.

The interview

The world has been weird lately, to say the least… So as part of my promo tour for Resonance, I sat down, in my own home, with Stefan Boublil for the inaugural Stef On Jazz Podcast. We had a lot of fun talking about beginnings, the present and the future of Jazz. Enjoy!

The Music

Over the years, I’ve recorded A LOT. For myself, for others, always exploring, digging deep to find new melodies, new partners, new avenues to express how I feel in musical terms. Here are some highlights…

The Latest

From time to time, when the mood strikes, I release singles, remixes or other one-offs and put them right here…

This is by Maxime, a very talented singer songwriter out of L.A. asked Stef to remix his original song All Falls Down. Stef, in turn, asked me to provide the bassline. It was so much fun to adapt my style to something perhaps a bit funkier than you’re used to hearing from me, and the result is super-groovy. Enjoy!

The Covers

So many beautiful melodies written over a millennia of music making, here are a few I needed to play, and hear, for myself.
